1.1.0 Latest October 24, 2026

Added

  • VoiceOver support across the editor: every element on the canvas is now a single VoiceOver item with a short summary and its own actions. Toolbar, sidebar and inspector buttons that show only an icon now have spoken names. Pages, layers, saved sections and the element library can be activated directly, and the Publish sheet, Media Studio and the user guide have been labelled throughout.
  • Spoken updates: VoiceOver announces changes you might otherwise miss, including what's now selected after ⌘A, paste, duplicate or delete, each step of a publish, and where an export was saved. After you delete an element or finish inline editing, the VoiceOver cursor moves to the next sensible place instead of jumping to the toolbar.
  • Voice Control names: layers, canvas elements and pages have short names you can say to reach them.
  • Adaptive vector favicon: on a site with a four-colour brand grid, Media Studio's Mark draws the grid as a proper favicon. It also creates a favicon.svg that switches to a darker set of colours on a dark tab bar, and you can edit those dark colours in the studio. The site icon settings in the Page inspector have a new Vector option for choosing any SVG.
  • Turn off publishing for a site deployed another way: a new Publishing section in the Page inspector turns off Publish to Pixla Hosting and records what deploys the site. The Publish button then shows as unavailable and explains why. Export still works.
  • Advanced Controls tip: after you've selected a few elements, a tip points to the Advanced Controls toggle for spacing, borders, shadows, corner radius and separate Tablet and Mobile layouts.

Changed

  • Downloads on an unplugged drive: when a download that stays on disk is on a drive that isn't connected, the Downloads list now names the drive instead of calling the file missing or asking you to find it. The link to the file is left unchanged, so it works again as soon as the drive is plugged back in.
  • Export and publish check your downloads first: before writing or uploading anything, they check that every download that stays on disk can be reached. If one can't, they stop and tell you which file and which drive. Previously the export skipped the file and the site's download button linked to nothing.
  • Easier-to-read colours: brand-coloured text, buttons and status messages now reach Apple's contrast guidelines in both light and dark mode. The app's accent colour has been adjusted to match.
  • Reduce Motion is respected: with Reduce Motion turned on, scrolling to an element on the canvas or in Layers no longer animates.
  • The right address after you publish: once a custom domain's certificate is issued, the Publish sheet opens and copies that domain instead of the .pixla.app address.
  • Tips appear at better moments: the Saved Sections tip now shows in the Layers list until you save a section. The Publish and Preview tips go away once you've used those features.

Fixed

  • Menu commands ran more than once: File ▸ Export could show two identical alerts, Import from URL could ask twice, and a pasted element or new page could be added twice. With several documents open, menu commands now act only on the window in front.
  • Import from URL no longer holds up the app while its prompt or alert is on screen.
  • Rounded and circular favicons from Media Studio no longer come out with black corners.
  • A tip in the Layers panel no longer pushes the editor off the window when the window is short. The panel scrolls instead.
1.0.0 October 15, 2026

First release of Pixla Sites.

Added

  • No-code visual editor — build pages on a live WYSIWYG canvas: click or drag elements in, select them to edit content, layout, and style in a right-hand inspector, with undo/redo, cut/copy/paste/duplicate, zoom controls (zoom-to-fit, actual size), and a full-page Preview mode.
  • Element library — Layout (Container, Grid, Section, Spacer), Typography (Heading, Paragraph, Rich Text, Button), Media (Image, Video, Icon, Divider), Components (Navbar, Hero, Testimonial, Pricing, Features, Footer, Form, Product Card, FAQ, App Card, Embed), prebuilt Sections (Section Header, Chip Strip, Feature Row, Terminal, App Window, Steps, CTA Banner, Docs), and site touches (Share buttons, a "Made with Pixla Sites" badge).
  • Rich text editing — inline formatting (bold, italic, inline code, links) edited directly on the canvas.
  • Tables in rich text — a <table> in a Rich Text or Docs body draws on the canvas and publishes with cell padding, top-aligned headers and row rules. A block containing a table opens read-only, because the canvas editor can't write a table back.
  • Multi-page projects — manage Main and Utility pages, set the homepage, designate custom error pages (404/500), and give each page its own URL slug, including grouped paths like /legal/privacy.
  • Per-page SEO — edit page title, meta description, canonical URL, and a no-index toggle; values flow into the export and published site.
  • Global Navbar & Footer — set any navbar/footer as global so it renders on every page automatically, edited in one place.
  • Saved Sections — save any element and its children as a reusable block that drops in as an independent copy.
  • Starter templates — open a new project from built-in templates (Mac App, Game, Studio, Landing Page, Portfolio, SaaS, Business, Agency, Blog, Online Store, Restaurant, Event) or start from Blank; each opens as a fully independent copy.
  • Six bundled web fonts — Inter, DM Sans, Outfit, Fraunces, Lora, and JetBrains Mono ship with the app, work fully offline, and are embedded in every export.
  • Simple and Advanced inspector modes — a simple default (content, sizing, typography, colours) plus an advanced tier adding padding, border, radius, opacity, shadow, visibility/lock, and responsive overrides.
  • Responsive design — Desktop/Tablet/Mobile viewports with per-viewport style overrides that export as CSS media queries.
  • Dark mode for published sites — exported sites adapt to the visitor's OS light/dark preference automatically, with an optional in-page Light/Dark/System theme toggle you can enable per site.
  • Glass styling — apply Subtle, Frosted, or Clear glass presets to elements, with an optional ambient gradient-mesh backdrop.
  • Static HTML export — export a self-contained folder (one HTML file per page plus css/, fonts/, and images/) of vanilla HTML/CSS/JS with no frameworks, tracking, or external dependencies; works fully offline.
  • Publish to Pixla Hosting — connect your Pixla account (Connect with Pixla signs in through pixla.app in your browser, or paste an API key; either way the key is kept in the Keychain) and publish straight to a yourname.pixla.app address, then republish updates in place.
  • Custom domains — attach an apex/www domain to a published site, with the exact DNS records to create shown in-app (copy-ready) and a certificate status check, and choose which hostname is canonical.
  • Contact forms — build forms with text, email, phone, textarea, dropdown, checkbox, and file-upload fields, a custom submit label, and a post-submit thank-you message or redirect; forms include built-in spam protection and connect automatically to form handling when published to Pixla Hosting.
  • Media Studio — generate the images a site needs about itself, from the project's own brand: social cards (Open Graph, X/Twitter, square), site icons (favicon 16/32/48, Home Screen 180, PWA 192/512), and hero graphics (1x, 2x, mobile). Every kind renders as a full size set in one click — filed straight into the project and wired up, or exported to a folder as PNG or JPEG.
  • Social cards in the export — a page with a social card publishes it at the site root with og:image, og:title, og:url and twitter:card tags, using an absolute URL wherever the project's published address or canonical URL supplies one.
  • Downloads manager — attach downloadable files to a project, link them to any button or call-to-action, auto-insert the file's size with a {filesize} text token, and optionally keep a file always up to date on republish.
  • Import an existing site — scaffold a new project from a local HTML file or a live URL, pulling in its headings, text, images, and links (and remote images, when importing from a URL).
  • Documents in iCloud Drive — projects are standalone .pxs files that save to a dedicated iCloud Drive folder and sync across your Macs.
  • Open in Vaporware — hand a project to the Vaporware app to turn it into a runnable Vapor server for local development.
  • Editor remembers its place — window size and position persist between launches.
  • Built-in User Guide — an in-app guide covering pages, elements, styling, exporting, and keyboard shortcuts.
